Two new cubs arrived in the hospital late Saturday night. They had travelled up all the way from Cumbria with our friend John McMinn.
We had received a call about the first cub, a male, last weekend but we felt he wasn't fit enough to travel then. After a week of care he was ready to come and the plan was set for Saturday. On Friday afternoon we had another call from Cumbria, this time from near Whitehaven, as another cub had been found. This was a female so we asked John if he could bring her too.
The two cubs are not related and at the moment they are being kept in isolation, but all being well they will be reared together.
The male is called Sniffer and he is tucking into his trout with great gusto! The female, called Eliza, is smaller and will take fish with a lot of coaxing - she is just so wriggly it is hard to keep her still enough to take the food!
