The
International Otter Survival Fund is a global organisation working to conserve
all 13 species of Otter by helping to support scientists and other workers in
practical conservation, education, research, and rescue and rehabilitation.
To do this we
work closely with workers in countries such as Russia, Chile, Argentina, Canada,
USA, Turkey, Thailand, Vietnam, South Africa, and throughout Western and Eastern
Europe.
At present our projects
include:
The Hairy-Nosed Otter in Thailand and Vietnam
The Neotropical Otter in Argentina
The Marine Otter (Sea Cat) in Chile
Co-ordinating Otter toxicology studies throughout Europe
Otter Surveys in Scotland
Otter Rescue and Rehabilitation at our own specialist hospital in Skye

Our membership is also
worldwide with members in over 30 countries, including USA, Iran, Dubai, many
African states, Japan, Australia, South America and all over Europe.
Otters are at the top of
the food chain and as they use both the land and water environments it is
essential that both are of pristine quality.
This is clearly vital not just for otters but for overall biodiversity
and ultimately to our own species.
