22/03/2012 "Otter Ecology and Conservation and the work of the International Otter Survival Fund"
Paul Yoxon will be speaking at a Meeting of the North West Group of Fauna and Flora International at Chester Zoo, 7.30pm, Thursday 22nd March 2012.
This will take place in the Zoo's Russell Allen Lecture Hall off the A41 just before the Park & Ride (postcode CH2 1EU for satnav users).
Tickets: £9 for FFI members; £10 for non-members; Concession £5 for students. All prices include buffet and wine.

25/09/2011 Caledoniart's Scotland's Islands Exhibition
celebrates the Islands in art, bringing together some of Scotland's finest artists in London. Artists include painters: John Lowrie Morrison (Jolomo), Mike Healey, Robert Kelsey, Fiona Macrae, Alan Anderson, Erni Upton, Vega and Jolomo Landscape paintings awards finalists Willie Fulton and Jamie Hagemen along side Skye based animal sculptor Laurence Broderick.

Laurence Broderick is Joint President of IOSF. Sales of his 'Teko' otter sculpture will provide a generous donation to the Fund.


The artists capture the beauty and spirit of Scotland's Islands in this one-week event in London. A fine opportunity to participate in the Year of Scotland's Islands in London.

Hi guys, i'll be attempting the 3 Peaks Challenge this weekend i.e climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales. I've invited my facebook friends to donate £1 or more to IOSF. 02/04/2011 Strathpeffer Pavilion - 8pm - The Peatbog Faeries, one of Scotland's best-known names in contemporary folk music with their individual brand of Scottish music, are playing a gig and have kindly allowed us to have a table there to promote our work. Do call in if you are in the area.
27/09/2010 The Oregon Coast Aquarium will observe Sea Otter Awareness Week September 27 to October 3, a week-long event to educate the public about the integral role that sea otters play in the marine ecosystem. The week’s activities will include a talk about sea otters, sea otter crafts and an abundance of information about sea otters’ natural history and adaptations. Public sea otter feedings will be held at 10:30 am, 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm. For more information about national observances, visit www.defenders.org/seaotter/awareness.

16/08/2010 Watch IOSF on BBC1's One Show on Monday 16 August at 7pm. The wildlife feature will visit Skye to see our work and will give you a chance to see more of our otter sanctuary.

Now's the time for you all to get thinking about what you might do to get involved and help in fundraising and raising awareness of otters.
Get together with family and friends and come up with some fun ideas to help the otters. There's no limit on imagination or age!

01/10/2009 2009 Ken Norris Memorial Lectures - A series of lectures on the Californian sea otter will be held at the Seymour Center at Long Marine Lab, Monterey Bay, California. Six prominent marine scientists will explain why sea otters serve as a barometer of ocean health. These free public lectures will take place Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m. on October 1, October 22, and November 12. Click here for further details.

22/07/2009 Talk on GIANT OTTERS by Dr Rob Williams, Wellington School lecture theatre at 7.30pm. £10 to include a full buffet. Plentiful parking in the adjacent public car park.

Rob is currently working as Peru's Programme Director for the Frankfurt Zoological Society. He oversees the development of research initiatives and conservation programmes across Peru and organises the scientific management of Manu National Park, an area of Amazonian rainforest the size of Switzerland. His annual survey of giant otters takes in an area about the size of Western Europe.
